Best performing D5 Top?

Thread Starter
I will soon be getting my EK Supreme HF Full Nickel and want to use plate one which has the most restriction but yields the best performance.

Because I also want a good flowrate I want to improve my Alphacool VPP655 T12 so I am meaning to find a good top.

I do know two already the EK D5 top and the Detroit Thermo Top that Vapor uses a lot in his review.I think there also is one with a res already in combo.

So please tell me which one among the ones in the Link I will post yields the best performance , meaning .)best flowrate and best headpressure results.

Thx in advance

But does anyone of you in particular have any experience with the D5 tops listed here?

if you actually looked at skinneelabs then you would see that the xek x-top rev.2 is one of the best tops and the xspc dual bay res/top is one of the best combo top/res

edit: restrictive loop (from the dangerden monsoon review)

I looked at his review and the EK Top Outlet has the best headpressure/flowrate ratio along with the Detroit Thermo Top.

And if you look at the link I posted you would see that I have much more tops as option and skinnie only review 4. That is why I would like the oppinion of you which of the other D5 Tops listed in the link might even beat the EK Top Outlet or Detroit Thermo in means of headpressure and flowrate.

And thank you MM67 for the link

Also which one is the EK Top Outlet from skinnes review in the link?

you dont have many other options, they are all just dual x-tops (for two pumps) or x-top combined with res (so they are all just x-tops, of course if you have 2 pumps in 1 loop you will get better performance than 1 pump) and the top outlet is the outlet that is where the outlet for the pump with the standard top is (its not too hard to tell when you get the top)

Would a Dual EK D5 top with just one pump in it provide equal resutls to the normal EK D5 X Rev.2 Top to grant me the oportunity of upgrading to a second D5 later?

Edit:Is the kinda pump power of 2 D5 even necassary?

I use EK's X-top rev.2 with MCP655-b on my Q9550 system. It has Phobya 240 and 280 rads, EK Supreme HF CPU block and an EK FC460 GPU block, no problems with flow.

If you get a dual top you have to run dual pumps in it or else you will have a massive leak.

A single 655-Vario on setting 5 will work well for your loop.

I did some calculations.

I wanna keep the pump slient so I intend to run it at speed setting 3 / 3300 rpm = 3 GPM with the EK X D5 Rev. 2 Top ....or max 4 /4050 GPM = 3.25 GPM with the EK X D5 Rev. 2 Top

1 GPM = 227 l/h (Just for comprehension matters)

My EK Supreme HF Full Nickel allows a flowrate of 1.59 GPM - 360 l/h.
My Phobya G Changer 360 allows a flowrate of 1.98 GPM - 449 l/h.
My EK Waterblocks GPU Block allows a flowrate of 1.75 GPM - 398 l/h.
My Phoba Xtreme 1080 Rad allows a flowrate of 1.69 GPM - 384 l/h.

The average flow of 1 x D5 with EK X Top Rev. 2 should be 1.75 GPM in my system.
Two would approximately result in 3.5 GPM -/+ 0.5GPM .

If I calculated right these are the end results

Edit: Charlie I do not understand why you said the Kryos would be too restrictive for my system and my temps would get high? Even with the 1.25GPM the Kryos grants my average would still be over 1 GPM easily. So what benefit do I know have from switching it with the EK Supreme HF Nickel?
