Did I make a good purchase? - Page 2

You are asking me since I read the question.

Let me ask you now, are you happy with it?

They're both excellent cards. And please don't listen to to the idiots that say as soon as you overclock the 570 it will asplode. That's only if you turn off OCP and go over 1.1v, which in all honesty you're asking for trouble then. Mine's been running an 850MHz overclock @ 1.063v for almost 3 months with no issues. Hell it doesn't even get hotter than 65*C (65% fan speed) at that overclock.

I had a 6870 in November/December and to be honest the only thing I didn't like was the damn fan noise. Anything over 50% was extremely irritating to me. The 570 is nice and quiet even up til 75% fan.

But since you have it it's a powerhouse! Like I said, the only issue I had was the fan. And I was using drivers off the CD just because I didn't like what everyone was saying about subsequent releases of drivers. I never had a driver issue with the 6870.

Keep what you got and screw what your friends say.

Yes, I'm happy with it, I can even play Crysis 1 maxed out at 1920x1080 at an average of almost 60fps.

Yeah, I've never had driver issues on this 6970, and I'm happy with it, and looks like it's a nice overclocker, it does 950/1500 on stock voltage

Then I think its a good purchase

I don't mean to preach. There are people out there who are desperate to buy something at its best with the money they have. So be happy that card just came out few months ago.

I've had no driver issues whatsoever neither low fps issues?
As long as you are getting what you paid for, you are good. ATI definitely has many points nivida does not have.

Its really hard to compare these 2 cards since they are great. Id say the hell with your friends and enjoy your card & at the OP its a great card enjoy it. I love my 6950 its not a 6970 but it still rocks

Here is a single spec that shows Direct X11 benchmarks. Keep in mind there are many games and each card has their forte. On this one AMD 6970 did better.

On many others games it was about 5% behind GTX 570 and a few others it did 8% better. Both are pretty much neck and neck, hope this graph makes you feel better. You didn't go wrong and could have gone either way.

Have fun with your new card playing Crysis 2 in Direct X11, you won't have any issues. If later down the road you feel like your getting behind the 8 ball crossfire that puppy and fly to the top again.
