not always, there is a i7 guide on these forums somewhere, in which they tell you what a certain for example : BSOD error value eg. 0x00000127 is vcore and so forth.

max vcore depends on how much you can cool, but dont go above 1.45v it starts getting pretty hot then.

might be vcore, might be temps, try get a screenshot with coretemp and CPU-z, so I can see if I can evaluate the problem more.

And give me all ur bios settings

It could just be that you can't get 4GHz stable with a C0 i7-940. I've heard that C0's are a pain to overclock highly. You might have just gotten unlucky as all 940's are C0 and we all know about the C0 revision with these chips. -___-

Exactly. And if I remember correctly you had to be extremely lucky to even get 3.8GHz out of a C0.

I think you're going to have to dial that OC back OP. 4GHz may be more trouble than it's worth.
