IMO the Unreal engines have always and still are fantastic, look at games like Bioshock, Mirror's Edge, Gears Of war and even Batman:AA. I think Unreal 3 on PC looks FANTASTIC, a lot better then some of the games out there. Not to mention none of these game suffer from more frame rate or optimization.

EDIT: This engine update should be like the update on the original xbox from 2 to 2.5. (Think Unreal Championship to Unreal Championship 2.)

For years I have used the UE in many games to make character skins and dev levels. Its one of the best tools around and its free with unreal 3. IF they were to upgrade the software (wich i doubt they will at this point in time) id halfto learn another god dam enginge... but... u know what they say "If it aint broke, dont fix it."

UE3 = Beast

for a second there I thought they were going to start showing off stuff from UE4 ahead of schedule. typical epic is typical.....

Quote:
"We've got Unreal [Engine] 4 in production right now," Capps said. "It's going to be in the next console generation—our rough guess is 2012 [to] 2018." The reason for this long production track is because Epic doesn't intend for it to be used on this generation of consoles.

in a sense they are with improvements within UE3, they are improving UE3 while developing UE4 making improvements within UE3 to see what the results are then improve among that within UE4 for better results ^-^.

And once again the dominance of consoles are holding back everyone in terms of graphics, game play and general progress in the gaming world.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.
