maybe youre not as sensitive to detail.

it's a fairly large difference in image quality when you consider PC is rendering at anywhere from 4x-7x as many pixels and has more graphical effects & better filtering & anti aliasing. As well as higher frame rates. Sharper, smoother, better looking. Seems pretty hard to miss imo *shurg*.

I mean, even at 720p (though the console versions dont actually even reach that) look at the difference in Black Ops; a game which doesn't even really push PC that hard. Make sure to full screen the vid

Nope - in ME2 and Medal of Honor - the textures and effects that are employed are the same resolution as the console. 720p. And no matter how high you increase the resolution: it stays the same, it's not magical powers that can change the source material. I don't care what resolution you can pull off - it could cover the entire wall of my house, it still has the look and feel of 720p.

Bad Company 2 is very similar in that as well. The textures and effects are of same resolution and quality as the consoles. Hell, the PC version even has the same AA effect employs that leads to a fence effect on the edges of models as the 360 does. Though, BC2 has a number of additional effects on the PC (like Black Ops which we'll get to later) as compared to consoles which seperates it from ME2.

AA in ME2 was and still kinda is broken too. You have to force it and even then users still have problems sometimes. It's probably the only thing along with performance that ME2 on the PC has over the consoles. That's it.

What were you doing when it gave you this red screen? And what does it say?

Not my image. best I could find.

A serious error has occurred, please contact technical support for assistance.

I powered down normally and safely. My PS3 is in my office away from pets/kids and even I lock my door when I leave my office. I came back after an hour, never left my house. I picked up the controller, pushed the PS logo button on the controller, starts up and second later it shows the red screen.

I checked my hdd, it's fine, PS3 not overheating. I did do an update that was forced. I was on 3.41:D and it updated me to 3.55 or 3.56, whatever OFW was added to Killzone 3. Just said 3.55 or later will be installed.

That's what I get for being a good citizen and paying for my games and do what Sony wants me to do to my PS3.sozo.gif

People, #1 when you are running around you don't notice the details like you do in screenshots.

#2 the bigger the monitor, the worse it will look compared to a smaller monitor..

#3 A visually good console game is not "shudder".. A PS2 game in 2005 compared to the pc's at the time was shudder, but a 2011 ps3 game is not to that point. Graphics are reaching a pinacle.

I beg to differ my 37 inch LCD looks awesome or could just be it looks that way because my eyes are fried from having a 37 inch LCD as a monitor lol. biggrin.gif

Odd I've never seen that before. I've heard of YLOD but not a red screen.
Do you know if the warrenty is still intact? You could try giving Sony a ring either way to see what they say.
Then again you said you bought another PS3 already so might not be worth bothering. Sorry man that sucks frown.gif

While #1 is partially true to some people, if you're like me who really likes to take in details rather than speedrun through games (thats the case with Dead Space 2 for everyone it seems -.-) you notice everything.
And the big monitor helps because details pop way better than they do on a smaller monitor. What in the world does "smaller the monitor, better it looks" come from? Should I start using a tiny 10" portable TV for my monitor and I've been missing out? lol

I agree. I have a 37 inch as well for my "monitor" lol. I use it for my PC, TV, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PSP. It's my <3

I'd like some source for that claim. Cause I dont believe it lol. I know some people complained that the textures in ME2 werent as good as 1 though.
But here are a couple screenshots via GIS, which do look noticeably better than the console counterpart.

as for MoH, i dont know I havent gotten to that yet. & i do agree that consolization has sometimes ended up buggering up some PC games, but even in that case they always look at least a little better on PC, usually though they look a lot better & that was my point. Trying to dispute it w/ a couple examples to the contrary doesn't change it. wink.gif

Your screenshots are entirely different from the screenshots you're trying to compare. Placement, lighting, everything is different.
Also, those screenshots have the film grain turned off making it even harder to compare.
Last but not least, it's like you chose the worst possible screenshot out of EG's galleries for the consoles to attempt to compare. Those two are so dark you can't even make out Miranda's hair yet alone see anything but her head.

Since you gave nothing to really to compare, look at Miranda's white suit. Well, because of your choice of screenshots the TINY part of it you can see on the PS3 and 360. The 360 one is exactly the same as the PC one. The PS3 version has a lower resolution one or at least one with less clarity for whatever reason. Also Miranda's neck brace/clip thing is the same throughout the screenshots. So are her lips and eyebrows. They're exactly the same in quality.
You can't compare facial and or body models because the screenshots don't show enough, are in noise, and the lighting is so drastically different.

http://a.imagehost.org/0197/tex5.jpg

In that screenshot, notice the horrible pixel mess on the asari's clothes. That is a result of copy pasta Xbox 360 textures. All of the textures in the PC's file archives are in the resolution of the 360 - 720p or at least consistent in similar sizes.
