Textures have everything to do with resolution. If you have a gigantic resolution and a tiny ass textures - then it looks like poo.

Look at that pixelated mess on the Asari's clothes. Absolutely pathetic.
It's not like it's because she is just some other NPC. The same effect can be found on all of the characters one place or another. Shephard's armor sometimes comes up his next, and whatever texture there is just stupidly bad. It's particularly noticeable when Shephard is just wearing his under shirt when you're wandering the ship.
It's those blemishes that really pop when you have such a good looking game but it just is bound by the laziness of the developers. I particularly hated the cutscenes in ME2. They are so compressed and pixelated. Sure, they're "720p" but they may as well be Youtube 340p or w/e it is.

Dead Space 2 is another example of how rendering resolution does little to nothing. The game looks pixel for pixel the same as console with the exception of AA effecting the shadows. Increasing the resolution makes the game look no different on my PC at 1080p then it does on my PS3's version of the game at 720p.
Maybe it's a different story when you go to the 2k resolutions, I dont know but unless the textures or effects are there to support it - 720p to 1080p has never made a significant difference for me.

I think it's getting old. I personally dont' see the logic behind it because hardware is never being "maxed out" in the sense that they cant make it look better somehow.

Why do we care what a press statement from a developer said? Anytime the console is chugging along at a low framerate it has been maxed out.

What they should have said was KZ3 wasn't coded perfectly making perfect use of 100% of the PS3's power so that nothing was wasted.

Unless you want to tell me that some games purposely set out to use only 80% of the PS3's CPU cycles for gaming.

Its tireing hearing about it but I do like to see it. The best i can think of off the top of my head is halo 1's graphics to halo 2's graphics. Loved the eye candy bump.

Hardware doesnt ha e to run at 100% to be "maxing" out. A lot of games run smooth as silk on my rig and my cpu cores or gpus are running at 100%. Id actually hate for them to be running like that.

You clearly have no idea what changing resolution does. It helps prevent aliasing and jaggies, it has nothing to do with making textures look better.(granted it can make them look better but it is not its major function) Thats what texture graphic options are for.

PC Gamers: "Why aren't any of the games, including this one, rendered higher than 720p then?"

PS3 Fanboys: "DEVS JUST HAVN'T OPTIMIZED IT ENUF."

I miss anything?

Anyways, if Killzone 3 were made for PC, the roof would actually be limitless. 120FPS, DX11 with Tesselation, high resolution textures, you could have the game render at 7680x1600 if you wanted to as opposed to this joke of 1024x600. Best of all you don't need to use those horrid gamepads.

And I know, the example above would cost the average gamer a lot of money, I'm just making the point that there's simply no comparison. This whole idea that the PS3 has some kind of hidden unlocked processing power is ridiculous. Yes, you can make decent looking games if you really really try but they won't even remotely compare with the PC.
