Is this 2500k overclock decent?

Thread Starter
Hey all, just tested my new 2500k and after being in the bios for about 30 seconds I managed to get 4.5Ghz @ 1.28 Vcore and the load temps in Prime95 is 50-50-53-49.

Is that decent? Whats the max temps and Vcore for these chips? Do you think I have good chances of reaching 5Ghz?

Many have said it is easy to get to 5GHz on air with this chip. The temps sure are fine (I get about 60C when I am at 4GHz with near the same voltage).

As of your question about the maximum VCore of the chip and Temperatures, Well temperatures are the same as every other chip. You want to stay below 80C (70C recommended for good measure). The Vcore I do not know, as I haven't got to even get a glance at this chip

Hey guys I've got a question.

I can overclock with the Turbo Multiplier, so it'll downclock to 1.6Ghz when idle, and go up to 4.5Ghz under load or I can forget about Turbo and just change the CPU Ratio directly to x45, which gives me 4.5Ghz all the time, even when idling, even though I havent disabled speed step or anything

Which is the better option?

Just use the turbo multi, theres no need for the chip to sit at 4.5 24/7 when its not doing anything.

Righto, I'm using the turbo multipliers.

My temps are massively impressing me though.

Sure my rooms a bit cold, but I've had Prime95 running on the large FFTs for maximum heat and the temps are 42-42-46-42 after 30 mins.

Pretty good eh?

I'll run IBT.

I had a E8600 pushed to 4,5GHZ without too much trouble.

I got a feeling that if it only took ya 10-15 mins to get a 4,5 out of this card with those really low temps, youll be able to go beyond 5ghz

I think so, just I don't know what the max vcore for these chips are? Don't really want to go over 1.3v : P

That's some decent voltage for that clockspeed. You have a good chip.

I would say you have a good chip, yours clocks about the same as mine, 1.27 for 4.5 ghz, @ 1.33 for 4.7 currently.

Hey guys here's a screeny;

Should I try lowering the vcore? I just set it to 1.3v hoping it would work and it does, I've made no attempt to lower it haha

Whats with the 3rd core running hotter than the other 3?
