pc game controller advice

I'm trying to get into pc gaming a bit and was wondering what sort of controller to get, however after some reading it is suggested to use keyboard and mouse for FPS type games vs. game controller. If i get a controller it would likely be this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826105082 (good or bad??) I haven't bought any games yet, but what interests me are the war type game Black Ops or something like that. Also like dead rising as well as shooter type games. not much into the pc racing games. I have a very standard logitech mouse and keypad so i'm wondering if that could be a problem as well?? Just some of your thoughts would be nice!

You could try and get a better keyboard and mouse first. Look here to find the grip style you use. If you want, you can buy a for XBOX 360 controllers (if you already have a controller). That would be a good place to start as well (get you comfortable gaming on a PC). Then you could move up and buy a nice mouse and keyboard.

The Microsoft Xbox controller is the most supported controller for PC, so the one linked would be a good one to get.

I use a regular wired Xbox controller and it works perfect thus far.

Go with what you're comfortable with. A mouse and keyboard is ideal for FPS on pc but using a controller is not a bad thing either. I played Battlefield Bad Company 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3 and it's still fun!

For $10 more you can have the Razer Onxa. It has a customizable pressure setting for the joysticks and re mappable buttons! Mine is on the way

We do already have 2 360 wireless controllers around for the kids 360, so all i would need is the receiver correct?

If you're planning to play online, I say get used to the keyboard/mouse as quickly as possible (skip the controller). You might be bad at it at first, but once you are used to it, you actually have a fighting chance.

You will get KILLED online trying to use a controller versus all the people that use a mouse/keyboard.

IMO for FPSes like you describe, a mouse and keyboard are the way to go. I only use my XBOX controller (which I <3) on games like Assassin's Creed, Protoype and racing games, it's especially useful for those.

If you have wireless controllers already, then yep. All you need is a wireless receiver. Although I own several wireless controllers for my 360's and PS3's, I went out and purchased a cheapo wired xbox controller for 20 bucks. Controller is a controller in my eyes....unless it's the PS3 type, "then me no likey the feel much." Any how, my intent was to use the controller only for games other than FPS games. Games I couldn't play with a keyboard and mouse well, I busted out the controller. But lately, games that I couldn't possibly play well or at all with the mouse and keyboard.....I can now. It's more natural in most games outside of FPS games now. So the controller has stayed in the drawer often. (Except Super Meat boy.....controller is best for me in that game.)
