Piracy = Less Game Development Funding = Crappier/Rushed Games = More "Justified" Piracy =....

This is a fact. The industry is bleeding as a result of piracy. The more people pirate the less incentive studios have to try making quality titles because they just figure everyone will steal them anyway.

It's a vicious circle, and in the end hurts the player more than the developer.

Sounds good to me. I for one do not approve of piracy. Since I do not do any pirating, all this anti piracy does not worry me.

I personally think it is black and white. Pirating is illegal. Period. When I see lame excuses to justify breaking the law, I laugh... I would actually love to see these people explain there excuses to a judge in a court room. I think it would be so comical.

Sony is a large company and can afford to invest the money in ways to prevent piracy. Hopefully more companies will follow.

Piracy is nothing more than a self-inflicted illusion, or at best a self-inflicted wound.
The way I see it the current situation can be explained in one of two ways.
a- Crappy developers kept blaming piracy as an excuse for their bad games (when it was not), and they kept lying till they now believe their own lies that piracy is as bad as they say it is.
b- Crappy developers kept blaming piracy as an excuse for their bad games (when it was not), that everyone who did not pirate began thinking that pirating a game is not such a big deal, and they started pirating themselves since "everyone" else was doing it.

Either way it's BS. Look at Starcraft 2. Both best selling game of 2010 AND most pirated game of 2010. Something stinks, and it sure isn't piracy.

Quite honestly I don't care anymore. The only thing that bothered me about piracy was that developers used it as a lame excuse to sell out on PC gaming. Now they don't have that excuse anymore. I'd like to see what happens next.

Less game development funding? Games cost more to make now more than ever.

Rushed / crappy games is the result of capitalism. If it'll sell, they'll put it out, even if it's dog****. Whoever can churn out a popular series the fastest wins, no matter what the quality.

Somewhere along the lines, the "pirating" customers decided to stop taking responsibility for their own purchases and blame the developers. No one put a gun to your head and made you buy a bad game. I for one have never been disappointed in a game that I bought whether I was able to play a demo or not.

I still don't understand? Everyone keeps saying the PS3 was hacked because they removed OtherOS... but the reason OtherOS was removed was because Geohotz was using it as a means to hack the PS3.

The only reason OtherOS has gone was because it was being used as a means to take apart the console.

total fail for wanting to protect there business? Not quite, i hope they can get something sorted to fix the problem that they did themselves help create. All we need is to give devs another reason to do a ***** job on a game and blame piracy for it not selling or them using piracy as an excuse to pump out as much expensive DLC as they can
