Open box GTX 465 on Newegg

Thread Starter
There is an Open box Asus GTX 465 on newegg right now for 142 USD and I was wondering if I should spring for it in hopes that it might be a GTX 470 (it has the black PCB) or should I not take the risk and spend a couple extra dollars on a GTX 460?

GTX 465 is equal to a 460, just runs a little warmer. If you want to take a chance on unlocking a card, newegg.com is selling PNY Recertified 465's for 140 and if you get the black PCB they are known to unlock. (I have two), if you end up with a blue pcb model, you just bought a 1GB 460 equivalent for much cheaper

I just bought one of the PNY Recertified 465's appleg33k85 referred to- I got a black PCB. I've already unlocked it and I'm very happy with its performance as a 470.

There are some minor issues though- I can't let it go above ~80*C or it crashes, so I've set a custom fan curve in MSI Afterburner. And I've found out that it throttles the GPU clock when I try to overclock it but I suspect that might be due to my potentially failing PSU.

The 465 is better with Tessellation though. So it's actually better than a 460.
