tbh even amd says that first phenoms were total failure XD, they didnt got enough money to implement things that later were shown in i7. well, now they had it, and they used it.

all i hope that it will not be "+5%" faster then gulftowns or something comparable.

i remember how core quad/duo was praised for "high performance"..
Truth was, it couldnt do virtualization stuff properly

Sometimes i wonder, how are people thinking
Do really some of you believe, that anything from intel is superior in every detail ?
Search for every detail, find informations and most important, open your eyes.

Would that be a bad thing if the processor only cost half as much as the comparable Intel?

intel can cut prices to... look what happend after thuban release

well, we are still in dark. I WANT BENCHMARKS! XD

**** man... chillout. most of us know about those crappy things in s775, and that vrm 1.1 thing etc etc... (same story for 1156 and 1155... like they couldnt design the chips to run on current boards... yea right) but what you can do.. just pass on that

For the overall market, yes. I want Bulldozer to blow the doors off Gulftown. Not because I want to buy it, but because it will make Intel work harder to produce a superior product and also maybe lower prices. AMD besting Intel is win/win for all of us.

Its all about competition IMO and AMD winning with Bulldozer isn't about the latest and greatest tech from them only being 5% faster than Intel's year old tech regardless of the price point.

I forget who said it on here and if I could find it exactly I would sig it, but if it weren't for AMD we would all be using 5GHz single core P4's with HyperThreading. Capitalism and a free market economy at its finest.

I agree with you 100%
They've both made some fine processors over the years.
I would guess a lot of that was due to competition.
Now let's see what happens with NVidea.

thanks to wise AMD engineers, we can use today 64b extensions without performance penalty on our CPUs (..and use more than 3GB RAM)

this guy wrote interesting ideas
