The on-board GPU is NOT "slightly" less powerful than the 5570. In fact, the difference between the performance of the 5570 and 6850 is narrower than the difference in performance between the 4250 and 5670, by a long shot.
Just get as much GPU as you can afford. If you are looking at 5550-5670 based cards, your best bet is to AVOID the DDR2/DDR3 versions. There are a lot of them in the market that are being sold at similar price points as the DDR5 versions (sneaky sales crap). The DDR5 versions have double the memory bandwidth compared to the DDR3, which can play a huge role in many titles, the DDR2 versions are practically crippled by comparison. The 5750 and 5770 don't have DDR2/3 versions so you don't have to worry about that.
Also, check out GT240s and GT450s as alternatives. (again, on the 240, make sure it's a DDR5).
