ESXi Question: Modem

Thread Starter
I need to connect an external modem to the virtual machines that are on my ESXi 3.5 host. I know ESXi does not support serial connections. I know there are devices that convert TCP/IP to serial. I need the software to be able to work on windows NT 4.0.

How can I accomplish this? Which converter device is good?

I would go for a USB modem. This might be of use:

I don't think you can add host USB ports to the virtual machines either. You might be able to do that in ESX 4.0 and up; but not in ESXi any edition.

Update to ESXi 4.1.

4.1 requires 64 bit hardware and compatible 64 bit hardware at that.

the upgrade cost wouldn't pay for itself for at leat 4+ years
