Just a little update for everybody, I built them a computer, I'll try to get pics for you guys this weekend when I go visit them. I went with

2500k and 16gb RAM in a Gigabyte H67MA-UD2H
C300 128Gb boot drive, 1.5Tb F4 data disk
Silverstone SG04 with handle (my dad liked it, despite how ugly it is)
seasonic x560 psu

Some notes: The 2500k and C300 are REALLY fast, once i tuned in windows 7 for the ssd, it would boot in a matter of seconds. VERY impressive.

The Seasonic X560 is perhaps the nicest psu I have ever handled. Very solid, dead quiet, just very very good. I would recommend it in a heartbeat.

The Silverstone SG04 is very nice to build in, and is actually more compact than I thought when measuring it out on my desk. I liked working with it a lot, and without the handle, it would be quite attractive.

Overall, very quiet and blindingly fast. It just flashes the splash screen for photoshop and then opens. No delay. Coming from HDDs this was an eye openner on how fast a good SSD can be. WOW

I'm glad it worked out, that's a nice machine and should last a long time.

Your parents are probably very happy with their new workstation =)
