Quick ATI/Nvidia setup question

Thread Starter
So my rig is pretty darn old but still keeps up with the games of today however its time for a nice revamp.

I want to purchase the sapphire hd 6950 2gb off newegg but the main question I have is right now I have a 9800gtx and I know there's a detailed workaround to use the 6950 as the gpu and then use the 9800gtx as a physx card but my question to you guys is would using the 9800gtx for physx really matter or make a difference? I'm just curious on the route I should go.

Thanks in advance

Why don't you forget the sapphire and get an Nvidia card instead to make things less complicated when running 2 GPUs?

I posted this somewhere else, but I am currently running the same setup. HIS 6950 with a 9800 GTX+ for physx. I am ditching the 9800 GTX+ as my second 6950 arrived and I will be just running cross fire.
But yeah, it is very easy to setup 6950 with a 9800 GTX+ dedicated for physx - there is a step by step process in the forum. However, either way you go (nvidia + nvidia or AMD + nvidia), a dedicated physx card is borderline waste imo. 90% of the time the card will just idle. Outside of benchmarks with physx, the eye candies hardly register.
To the poster above me, there is nothing complicated about AMD with nvidia for physx.

I noticed in your sig rig that you are running windows XP... You will be NOT able to run ATI as your main card and a nvidia card for physx... you can only do that in Windows7....also no point in getting a DX11 or even a DX10 card since XP only can use DX 9... Vista and Windows7 can use DX10 and DX11...

I was using my old GTX card for this but like Awaz said it was just a waste so I pulled it and didnt notice anything different in game play.

Also good post above.
