ASUS mobo RMA confusion..please help!

Thread Starter
I was approved for an RMA to ASUS and I received the instructions to RMA.. the part that's a little confusing is:

Do not include any accessories, including but not limited to and will not be returned / replaced.

-user manuals, software, I/O shields, retention mechanisms/brackets or original box.

Is it saying not to include the above or to include it? How would I send the board without the original box?

Thanks!

Don't include it. I recently had an RMA with them, I did send it in the original box though. Just make sure to really listen and follow directions in regards to the packing (They give you some guidelines to how it should be packed).

Basically, all you want to send is JUST the motherboard. Use the original box if you have to, you might get it back... might not.

You don't include any of it.

Just the barebones motherboard. Anything you send to them besides that will not be sent back.

To send it back without the original you'll need something that's big enough to fit it obviously. Do you have some sort of anti-static bag for the board that came with the original box?

Put it in the anti-static bag, layer the bottom of the box with some packing foam/paper/bubble wrap or whatever, just make sure it's packed in snug and tape it up and send it out.

Probably a good idea to write the RMA# on the outside of the box with a marker if they didn't already tell you how to mark the box and if you had to print something out to put in the box as well.

You send the board only (in an anti-static bag, obviously packed in a brown box surrounded by bubble wrap). They will give you a board only as a replacement (they may give you a full retail box with all cables and accessories, but it's rare).

EDIT: Another thing, make sure to install the black plastic cap on top of the socket when you send it back, or they may deny your RMA.

It means just send what needs to be repaired and nothing more, no accessories. You will either not ever see the mobo again or you will see the mobo again repaired but anything else you send in will not be their responsibility to repair. If your mobo is beyond repair they will just send you a new in box mobo and if you sent in any accessories with your mobo they would have issues having to return it to you, you get my drift? So just the mobo.

Send the board back wrapped in the anti-static bag and placed in with the styrofoam for keeping the board from bouncing around, nothing else in the box.

If you are in southern california I have a bunch I could give you some. Otherwise... ebay? possibly an office supplies store? radioshack? just guessing.

If the board is dead, i wouldn't worry about a anti-static bag. Just wrap it in bubble wrap and use some peanuts and send it back in a box that won't allow it to move around, bounce, etc.

@ Markisa, about the only time you will ever get a brand new motherboard is if they just came out. And they have no refurbished boards to send out for the rma. And that is pretty rare.

So just the bare board and the lga socket protection cap. as even if you send in the original box. They will send back some off the wall box with your refurbished board in it. That is why i just do a standard box.
