thinking of getting another 5850

Thread Starter
i was thinking of cf another diamond 5850 or asus 5850 for my sapphire toxic 5850. what do you think?

i dont wanna get 69XX or 6870 coz i dont wanna waste my toxic 5850. if my brother will buy pc then i would consider getting 68XX or 69XX but he's too stingy. he has dual-core pc with 2.4ghz and a 9600gt. playing bfbc2 with his computer is killing my eyes.. i dont know if my toxic can handle his pc but he has 500 watts. is 500 watts enough for 5850?

For a 5850, the required/recommended PSU is 500w or above. As long as the PSU has the correct connections and the mobo can handle it then this card will run on a 500w supply.

the 5850 alone without the PC is 151 Watts so 2 of them are 302 watts then add your system. So if your doing 348 watts with system & single 5850 @ load add another 151 watts so that is 499 watts give or take

a 500 watt PSU will be enough for a single card & system

This is a good read if you're on the edge about wattage.

A quality 650w unit will work fine for two 5850's and an overclocked 125w cpu.

Edit: I just reread your post and realized it's for your bro's system, 500w unit will work fine for a 5850 and a dual core. My gf's system is running an Athlon II 250 and 5850 on a 550w Ultra PSU.
