You only need one monitor hooked up with it. And yeah man, it will work.

You can utilize any displayport adapter from VGA to DVI to HDMI etc. And they do not have to be active at the resolution you will be playing at. AMD specifically developed adapters that were $15-30 for all connection types to combat NVidia's 3D Vision as it does not require an adapter, but does require dual GPU.

All that to say, at your resolution (1080P) you can buy a DVI or a VGA or whatever and it doesn't need to be active.

Actually he's right. They have to be active DP adapters, but not powered. All eyefinity DP adapters ARE ACTIVE for single link. To run dual link they have to be powered.

OP, get monitors that do DVI. Switch all yer outputs to dvi: 1 dvi, 1 hdmi to dvi, 1 miniDP to dvi.

Wrong dude. Go check out AMD's site. LINK What you said was true. Once upon a time. Now they make passive DVI apapters as long as it is not a DVI-D. I honestly don't care, but the OP was already confused and wrong information makes it worse.

Go reference the part numbers with the manufacturer. They just use the active/passive in regards to the unit being powered or not. For example: B087B-001B = Accell B087B-006B UltraAV Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D Single-Link Active Adapter ATI Certified (Black)

You *can* use a passive DP-DVI adapter as long as you only use one of the two native DVI/HDMI ports. The passive adapter can pass a DVI clock through the port (the 6 DP model comes with 2 passive adapters); but you're still limited to the 2 DVI/VGA clocks on the GPU so it's basically pointless

All that cap typing and no reply?

Blah blah blah.

Anyway, instead of spending $30 for that adapter in Fry's, here is a site that will sell them to you for 1/3-1/2 of the price. Linky [Monoprice]
