[NEWS] New client version for -bigadv Folders - Page 15

Okies, got 10.04 installed, then re-read the section I'd read earlier and realised that I could've just gone with the latest (10.10) version as the issues with F@H on 10.10 were fixed in the new F@H client version......but..........

Something doesn't seem right...

Hey guys I dunno if this is already known, but the new client doesn't seem to allow X6/2500k folders to get bigadv units. The number of cores = the number of SMP threads to run. So what was possible before (client sees 8 cores but only uses 6) is no longer possible from what I can see.

Also, installing the v7 client seems to have broken the v6 client in Linux because my TPFs are really high after having gone back to v6. I'm going to try redownloading the core tonight cuz I already tried picking up a new WU only and the TPFs still suck.

Does anyone know how long v6 will still be supported?

Not sure what u are asking. BIGADV folders were advised to not use the new client and stick with this A5 client until people figure out how to use Bigadv on v7.

I'm asking if stanford plans to keep v6 alive for awhile or will they discontinue it once v7 becomes final.

And bigadv works in v7, just not well for X6s.

They will retain support for v6 GPU until September '11. I assume (but can't confirm) that SMP will stay until then too.
