sony laptop design

Thread Starter
hi people,

I recently bought and returned an acer notebook because of hdd issue and loud fan noise. So I am back to my old trusty laptop.

More and more I think of it, my laptop looks better than most of the laptops out there- purely from design perspective. Yes, its on a little thick side but design of these old laptops I love the silver/white colours, clean lines and fingerprint/grease free surface.

what you guys think? Mind you its 4 1/2 years old.

It's just a matter of personal taste eh.

Here's a quick picture of my laptop, which I like a lot;

You also pay a premium for the sony name and design..
Which is why they almost never come into consideration when people are looking for a laptop.

I have a HP dv2713tx that has proven to be surprisingly OK, but the annoying thing was the heat issues, and that the one rubber leg under the HDD would be hovering above the surface, on 7/10 tables.

Due to that lack of support, and my nature to type hard, I've gone through like, three HDD's.

My Asus doesn't have that problem, and worse still - the disk in the Asus is a Seagate.

I think Sony makes some very nice looking electronics in general. I know they charge a lot more for their name, but I also think they use higher quality materials. When I was looking for a new TV at Wal-Mart, yes Wal-Mart lol, the construction and build quality of the Sonys were far superior to that of the LGs, Vizios, ect. So anyway to answer your original question, yeah your laptop looks great. It does kind of remind me of a certain fruit, though. And no I do not like that certain fruit.

The shell may be nicer, but the actual quality of the internal parts are just average.

Sony design is top notch, they do have the best looking notebooks (and pcs). They have a very mac feel.

like most ppl are saying, sony gear is nicely designed, but generally overpriced for the same features offered from other brands.

the entry-level stuff is crappy and the mid-range line is ok. All of their good products are the ultraportable notebooks made in japan, like the Sony Z-series. It's the only notebook i know of that is 13" w/ 1920x1080, nvidia graphics, etc etc.

sadly, i dont have $2000+ to throw away

Do you have any source information to back this up? Or do you just mean the specs they choose to go with compared to other makers based on price?
