Min - 30
Max - 137
Average - 80FPS

1920x1080 (this running at full 8x)

Min - 64
Max - 164
Average - 91

GPU load shows I'm still holding these cards back.

This is at 3.9ghz with 2.56 NB. Gonna see how high I can get my Processor to go stable. Hardware monitor showed it didnt even hit 45C during gaming.
That makes no sense, your performance should be more or less exactly the same since you are being cpu limited and your video cards should run exactly the same no matter the resolution or aa till they are passed 99% usage.

Thanks for all your help guys. I too am confused by the results. I re ran some games that were having trouble at 1600x900 (Kayne and Lynch 2, Dragon Age 2 demo), all of them run flawlessly at 1080p. I just picked up this:

From my local best buy. I'll be waiting for the Bulldozer line to come out to upgrade.

So in conclusion, yes, a Phenom II will bottleneck two ridiculous cards such as a 570, or 6970's, but if you have something lower then that you should be fine, also, resolutions can be a big bottleneck as well. Thanks for all your help guys.

Did you set your ram at 1600Mhz now ? Some older motherboards don't have an x4 multiplier so you need to raise the FSB for that.

Stop telling people bottlenecks don't matter because this is yet another example of a clear bottleneck, adding more gpu power will do nothing but make the bottleneck bigger and lower his gpu usage more.
READ. Part of my post says he may in fact be bottlenecked at his settings.

I still have doubts, 'cause I play the same game at the same res without a problem on my sig rig but at 4x FSAA. More FSAA doesn't stress the CPU, it stresses the GPU (unless I'm missing something). So why would he be any more "bottlenecked" than me?

At 1080p you get the same min frames I got with a 1090T at 4.4Ghz with a 3.2GHz NB.

I was/am only running one card though

With a SB proc I can fraps at a higher min than you can play with two gpus...

I also run 32x 16x HBAO on.

Its up to you what you want to do with your knowledge, I jumped ship.. Others spend money in other areas (higher res)... Either way you're not getting the experience you paid for because of the Phenom II bottleneck.

Oh I know. I just seems silly to me to return one of these cards at take a 60$ restocking fee hit when I can just wait for the bulldozer to come out. I've been playing battlefield for an hour or so without fraps running so I don't see the FPS and I don't notice lag at all, its really nice. I'm going to hold on to these cards so when I upgrade CPU and MB this system will last for years to come.

I realize more aa won't stress the cpu, but if you add better cards the cpu isn't going to magically run faster. Better cards will give him better averages but keep the same minimum fps which is the problem and since they are faster the gpu usage will be even lower since they can run faster but the cpu is limiting them in the cpu intensive areas which are causing the minimum fps. And I reread your post and I see you did say that, so sorry if I came off harsh in what I said.

Agh I should not have my debit card saved in Amazon.

I've got a 1090T shipping off to me, should be here Monday (god I love amazon prime). I'll re run some tests when I get it and post the results here.
