Is my CPU the bottleneck? - Page 9

So my 1090T is in, clocked to 3.8, NB at 2.6. Afterburner shows video cards at 99% during gaming and CPU anywhere from 70-90%. Seems I have fixed my bottleneck issues by throwing money at the internet.

My only problem now is that these video cards running at 99% has shown my my airflow is awful in my case. I have to manually set these fans at 50% to make sure they don't shut off.

Battlefield now never dips below 70FPS, and usually runs at a constant 120-150FPS

Sounds great. If the cards are not OCd, leave the fan on auto, 50% might give you serious headache after several hours of noise..
As the cards heat up, the fan will speed up

I had kept them on auto, they dont seem to speed up at all, they just sit at 24%, then my computer shuts off and the fans start to run at 100% until I manually shut it off, which is an incredibly terrifying noise. I thought my house was about to be hit by a downed plane.

They are 6950's that I modded to the 6970's, but they arent overclocked at all. The noise doesnt matter to much to me, I game pretty loudly so I cant hear it.

Good to see the 1090T alleviated your bottleneck. Luckily BFBC2 scales well with extra cores.

But why don't they speed up...
Maybe because of the unlock?

And what do you mean by that:

When you shut down, the PC hangs until you manually turn it off, or it turns off due to heat and then hangs? I didn't get it..

The computer restarts and then starts to POST and boot normally into windows, but the GPU fans run at 100% until I manually shut the computer off.

I added a 120MM fan to the side of the case right over the two cards, seems to have solved this problem anyway.

Also, as a side note, NB overclocking makes a huge difference. Keeping it at 2GHZ will cause the GPU's to be bottlenecked by 15-20%. Bumping it up to 2600 will allow them to run at 100%

nice...my gpu is always at 99percent. pulled over 150 + on battlfield on everything high with anti alaising 8x as well. i do not see a bottleneck on my end.
