headache while playing Crysis

Hello,
I am having a serious issue here. When I play Crysis i get headaches. No other game gives me headaches. I know its not because its a fast passed game as I play many of those. Could it be that I have vsync off? I constantly get more than 60fps and cant increase settings anymore. Im using a 720p tv to game like I always have. But on this one game i get headaches. could it be the framerate? I do get A LOT of screen tearing. Also When i turn vsync on my frame rate drops to 30fps whenever i jump or something explodes. why is this, using sig rig with the following settings
Everything on Very High
AA @ 16xQ
1360 x 768

Why is this and do you have any suggestions? I think im gonna head out and get me a 1080p screen so there is more stress on my system. I have been eyeing one with a 4.5ms response rate. should be a good upgrade from mine that has a non published response rate.

It's a common thing with Crysis..

I also experience similar gameplay,at some point it runs great 60FPS+ and at the other it runs like crap 30FPS or even below without any obvious reason..

I play @ 1280 x 1024, Very high, 16x QAA and I have GTX480 OC'd @ 850/1025MHz..

CHEERS..

Why such a low resolution? You should have no problems maxing it at 1080p.

NVM just read. Gaming at that low res would give me a headache too. Check out this monitor if you want my recommendation.

TV's as PC monitors = not really good.

Not sure what's causing your headaches. I know for myself, playing some FPS games make me nauseous like Doom or any game that makes me navigate through corridors for extended periods for that matter.

As for loss of frame rates when vsync is on. Honestly, I'm still learning about it. But from things I've read in regards to enabled vsync w/tripple buffering (if I've read correctly) frame rate hasn't exactly decreased. Here's a snippet of how it's explained.

"Now, it is important to note, that when you look at the "frame rate" of a triple buffered game, you will not see the actual "performance." This is because frame counters like FRAPS only count the number of times the front buffer (the one currently being sent to the monitor) is swapped out. In double buffering, this happens with every frame even if the next frames done after the monitor is finished receiving and drawing the current frame (meaning that it might not be displayed at all if another frame is completed before the next refresh). With triple buffering, front buffer swaps only happen at most once per vsync."

I rather look for higher resolution over lower response rate (mine has 2 though but that is probably only for grays or some marketing bs ).

unfortunately I cant find an affordable 42inch monitor. I sit kinda far from my screen like maybe 6 feet. and i cant get any closer. i used to use a 22 inch a few years ago and i loved it but since moving my house doesnt have a proper computer room so im stuck with using my living room as a computer room, being single not that big a deal but theres no way i can get closer. I use a sofa as my seat and a portable table for my keyboard and mouse. if you can tell me of a 37+ inch pc monitor that is not expensive then i will hop on that, until then a tv is my nnly option.

Response rate doesn't really matter if you don't play competitively - anything under 6ms is completely fine.

Response time is the time it takes for the monitor to keep up with your graphics card - i.e. if the graphics card renders a new frame, it takes 'x' milliseconds before the screen shows it. This is why most pro's use CRT screens as those have a response time that is often less than 0.5ms.

only time ive had headaches playing games is when they have weird default fov's such as metro 2033, a couple others i cant think of off the top of my head, but never had a problem with crysis, you could try changing it though, according to this guide though it is already at 60 which is what i find comfortable, so maybe its not the fov but worth trying i guess: http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_9.html
