need help lowering temp on my 2600k @ 4.5Ghz

Thread Starter
ambient temp 19°C, cpu idle temp 30°C, running prime95 I can get temp up to 74°C(pretty high compared to others), core voltage depending on cpu-z(ver 1.57) mostly 1.32 ~ 1.328, is there anything I'm doing wrong, any adjustments that would help? thanks

pc spec as shown in sig (p8p67 bios 1204)

replace that cooler, they hyper 212+, although a good cooler for its price, is still comparativley not the best.

Get something a bit bigger, Thermaltake Frio, Titan Fenrir...

I saw others say they won't even pass 60°C during prime95, will changing a cooler make that big a difference, thanks.

At 1.325-1.350 volts using a Corsair H70, I got around 60-62C load. At 1.40 I was at around 72C max, ave 67C (one core is always higher than the other three).

On water now and usually around 54-57C average at 1.40.

Cooler makes a big difference, but so does using good thermal paste, and not using too much thermal paste if you can get a lot of pressure between the heatsink and CPU.
