eyefinity - 5770cf or 6950? - Page 2

Dont do 5770's. I just upgraded from those to the 6950. It wasnt powerful enough for my 3 monitors.

If you can, go 6950. You'll appreciate the extra Vram and a cooler case.

Oh wow, I did not know this. Makes sense I guess. Soooo, one card does every other frame in crossfire?

Yes, one card does the even frames and one card does the odd frames.

I would like to see an option for trifire owners using eyfinity where each card renders one monitor. That way they wouldn't need so much VRAM. Doubt that will happen due to the extremely low percentage of users with that setup but it sounds interesting.

What I'd love to see more is a way for three non-5/6XXX series hooked up to their own monitors, rendering a frame one at a time, communicating over the Xfire bridge to emulate a spanned desktop...I can dream for Eyefinity on mine...

My opinion..

2Gb of VRAM >>> 1Gb of VRAM
OP: At your res you are going to need the 2gb version of either a 5870 or a 6950. 1GB of Vram is not going to cut it at that high res.
