If I understand it right OEM version gets no tech support from MS.
While the other ones do get MS tech support.

I knew retail gets 1 yr free support but that is no big lost. Tons more people out there that know windows inside and out than a tech support reading from a binder.

Ive had no problems with my iriver download. Multiple full reinstalls and reactivations with no problems when I upgrade. If it doesnt activate then I just call the 1-800 # and have the sweet robo lady give me a new activation key.

Susposely the retail version doesnt bug out so much when you upgrade your pc. The oem is really meant to go on a pc that wont be upgraded or that is built to sell. Eh. Mine some times ask me to reactivate if I get to swapping out parts a lot.

I will say Ive never had a version of windows on a HDD that was then plugged into another pc not fire up. Its funny to see windows freak out with different hardware. LoL

Yup. This. I run OEM and it's easy peazy. Of course it wasn't so easy when I first went through the RMA rebuild but once I figured it out I've been cool with that. I honestly do not like Tech Support and look at it like going to the doctor. Only when I have to.
