I have a HiS 5870 1GIG currently running @ stock clocks. I will be picking up a Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 5870 tomorrow and was wondering what kind of overclocking I can do with this, like to get the maximum performance with this cooler. All the reviews I've read say this cooler is amazing and lowers temps by over 36degrees over stock. I am very new to GPU overclocking so I was wondering if anyone who owns this cooler or has done a major overclock on their 5870 could help me out with how I should tweak the voltage etc...
I have flashed my card with the ASUS 5870 Bios released in 2009. At the moment my card on stock cooling is @ 1.162v/850mhz and I cannot see the Memory voltage, All I see in after burner is AUX Voltage which is 1.149v. Right now on stock the card seems to be idling @ 36degrees on 20% fan with stock.
Could I possibly take my card to 1300mhz with this cooler? Run it @ 1300/1350?
What is the highest(safe) voltage these cards can do?
Strange, the company I ordered the 5870 xtreme from sent me the Accelero Xtreme Plus + VR001 Ramsink. I don't know what the difference between the two is. Not sure if I should return it. It's compatible with the 5870 and a bunch of other ATI cards. Really don't understand why they'd make one just for the 5870 and then another model that's looks pretty much the same which is also compatible. Can't seem to find any information on if this one replaced the 5870 XTREME or not.
Well have the card OC'd to 1050/1300@1.3v seems pretty stable, haven't tried going higher yet. Core idles @ 32degrees and the card seems to be constantly @ 1050mhz. The VDIMMS though heat up like crazy in furmark, reporting 110+ degrees within 2 minutes. Vcore doesn't go past 51degrees though in furmark

Yes, unfortunately AC failed to incorporate good VRM cooling into the design, which was the only major problem I had with my Accelero Extreme 5870, so I combined it with VRM R-4.
The card looks huge now though, reminds me of an aircraft carrier a bit
I can run some specific tests/settings for you, if you want.
holy crap lol, My card barely fits into my CM690II now. I had to put it in at an angel and kinda force it in because its so long. I think the Xtreme Plus is a bit longer then the 5870 Xtreme. What kinda temps do you get with that cooler on ur vrms. Card seems stable @ 1050/1300. I don't care about furmark. Running games like blackops maxed out the VRMS dont go above 90 which is ok isnt it ?

Yes, 90c VRM temps are fine at that voltage, IMO.
I don't have any games installed to test right now, if you tell me which settings for FurMark you used (res, AA, post-processing, extreme burn?) I can run a quick test and give you comparable results.
Hello all. New hare and need your HELP please!
I have bought the "Accelero Xtreme 5870" for my 5870 and it died before I get it. and now I want to know for which cards will it be good?
Is it good for other Cards like "Accelero XTREME Plus", or it goes only for 5870? And if yes is there some listing I can find?
