For me: if AMD can get the same performance/price range + better power saving and favorably CHEAPER chipsets then it would be a one way trip for me to red side.

I looking forward to making my first system, but I'm prioritizing power consumption since the electric bill is pretty high as it is for me living on my own. I was aiming at SB but the sata fiasco really set me back a lot.
Electricity costs high in Japan?

I cannot wait to see what performance they may bring to the market.

Well if I were to use the 800W heater I have 24/7 my bill would go from 70$ to 200$ (100yen=1$ lazy conversion), so I stick to my 50W electric blanket instead.

something I googled just now:
"The exchange rate in 2002 was, on average, US$1.00 = GBP 0.66722, or
66.722 pence per dollar, so the above prices in USD are:

UK $0.046 /kWh
Japan $0.072 /kWh
US $0.037 /kWh"
some more recent ones http://www.eia.gov/emeu/international/elecprih.html

pretty much double the USA and similar to the UK

Mate the 470 is overclocked in the 2500k one. Long and short of it, the bottleneck isnt huge enough to justify the cost of getting rid of the AMD setup and going Intel. Who the hell plays 3D Mark, or runs games on low anyway?

Before we all go off the deep end and claim that AMD will surpass Intel in overall performance, we need to calm down.
I guess the writer is trying to give us some insight, it's going to be nice, but don't think it's gonna be the bomb....

Ah man....

Now I see it as the writer trying to let the wind out of our sails early....

Everyone says Bulldozer will not beat Sandy Bridge....

I say THEY BETTER BE WRONG or I'm Buying Sandy Bridge...

Agreed!

I don't know how long it's going to be before we get reliable data though.

You won't see benchmarks. I don't know what they are showing, but I caution against people getting too excited about what will be shown there. I am guessing that after cebit is over there will be 100 threads saying "AMD was supposed to launch and...."
In response to Bulldozer being shown in Germany in March, and people speculating whether we would see benchmarks shortly after the event.
