Marathon Shooting.. Help? - Page 2

Wow, great design on the business card. It would be worth it if the cards are made out of plastic or metal instead of the usual paper, it would make it a lot more impressionable to potential clients.

Make it ISO 100. And yeah, of course center point, its a 5DII. Don't worry f/2.8 at their torso even at 400mm will probably be focused on their face. It'd only be a problem if you shot a 85mm f/0.7 which doesn't exist. Don't worry, just shoot. Outer points will work though since its daylight.

The whole putting your name out there is a load of bull. They say this to save money and people eat it up for some reason. The 5DII is perfectly fine for marathons. Its the same AF as the 40D and I took that to a Redbull Airshow. I had no problems.

Probably because you had a massive field of focus.

Good light, nice contrast with the sky, and near or at infinity the whole time. Not really a challenge for any camera. Try shooting a concert and report back

(I've always used Nikon and never really shot a Canon with continuous AF, but even most Canon shooters agree the 5D mkII's AF system isn't great. Not saying it's terrible, I'd assume it works fine for marathons.

Not quite. Statue of Liberty behind, obstacle course made of large cones, EXTREMELY fast plane and how close I was makes it a bit of a challenge.

Thanks for all the inputs. Rep'd to all who was helpful.

Well.. it's not a matter of "if" my 5DII can do it.. i still want a second body for that day. I'm "wanting" to try a 1d4 simply for the fact that it's a 1d4.. but i'm pretty sure a 7d will already be a overkill for a maraton.

@Weedvender- I had a 50D previously and the AF is the same as the 40D. The 40/50D both have 9 crosstype AF points while the 5DII only has center crosstype and all surrounding points are linear like the rebels.
