I think this is a pretty good deal....

Is the 5870 considered old technology by now, though?

Edit: nevermind. its $180. Newegg forgot to update item description.

These times make me regret getting the gtx 460 . The 5870 is old but still very fast but loud fans and heat is what makes it a beast of the past. It's pretty much compared to the gtx 480 though and for that price compared to $400 is just unbeatable.

It seems you're trying very hard to "get back at me" for pointing out the mistakes in your argument in another thread.

However, the other thread's title was vague and as such, I did not realize it addressed the same issue. Unlike you, I do not lurk these forums, checking every thread in hopes of a trolling opportunity.

I got a 5870 and its neither hot nor loud. Fan never goes above 27% on auto, and hits a max of 71c in benchmarks. If I turn the fan on manual at 46% temps do not hit 60c. And yes its fast. Direct X 11 too. No shame in going this route. I tried a GTX 460, HD 6850 and HD 6870 before I settled on this.

why was the other thread locked?

And my HIS 5870 is very quiet. I just bought a 2nd one from some dude on here. I coulda got this sapphire instead oh well.

+1 on the 5870, it's one hell of a card and it looks sick!

If not for the scaling, I would have still rocking it.

The 5870 does not run hot. You are too used to nvidia.
