Long story short. I have a customers laptop in which they did a export of emails from Windows live mail > Outlook 2010.
After which as they explained to me, didn't appear in Outlook after wards, nor were they visible in Windows Live, so... they ran a system restore dated back 2 weeks..... which of course didn't help at all.
So my job was to try and find the emails, and get them back.

So I did a bit of research and what I found was Windows Live Mail is stored in an .eml format. No PST's or anything like that. I could not find anything manually when I looked in the directory Appdata/Local/Microsoft/Windows Live Mail, however ran a data recovery app "Recover My Files" and managed to find the inbox for windows live mail with hundreds of .eml files.

I saved the data, but when I open it (either outlook or windows live mail) It's just a bunch of random characters.

I did a bit of research, and what I found was something about decoding in base64, which I have tried, but no cigar. I get a message" no legal base64 code was found".

I know it's a long shot asking for help considering the fact this isn't an every day issue, but if any has any info regarding my dilemma, that would be fantastic!!
