Phenom II X2 555 BE 3,2 GHZ-Starting OC - Page 2

Before you do anything, you should get something at least like a Hyper 212 and direct a fan to get cooling on the area around the CPU.

Have you read a guide yet? You need to know about HT speed/multiple, FSB, CPU-NB speed/multiple and CPU multiple on AMDs before you can really do what you need to do.

If you were me and wanted a lil boost, you'd get a Hyper 212, get direct air on the Mosfets around the CPU, turn off Cool-n-quiet, and see if you can unlock stable at 1.35VCore, passing 1 hr of OCCT and 4-5 hrs of Prime95 on all cores. If not, you'll go back to 2-cores and keep going.

With 2 or 4 cores, bump CPU-NB to 2400-2600, and stress test again. Then bump CPU multiple till you're around 3.4-3.6, testing with OCCT and Prime95 again and watching temps closely.

Once stable at 3.4-3.6, enable Cool-n-Quiet and use your system normally for a week, finding out if it's stable and watching temps.

To me that's a safe lil boost, but xd_1771 is going to warn you about your board bursting into flames. If it does, put out the fire, and buy a better board for overclocking. If you try to do the above with your stock cooler and crappy case full of hot stagnant air, xd_1771 could probably be right.

I'd trust CoreTemp here

First thing you should do it move to something like a Hyper 212 (cheap and good) and get some air on the area around the CPU (mosfets).

I'd personally unlock and bump by CPU multiple to get 3.5GHz and maybe set 2400 NB, but know that there is risk (xd_1771 has officially warned you). If you're cooled properly (and your case has good airflow) I'd be comfortable with 3.5-3.6 with cores unlocked. Watch your temps though. Also be sure you're using cool-n-quiet.

Right now I'm running an unlocked 555 as a server (24/7) at stock clocks on one of the "warning" boards, and another unlocked at 3.85/1.4/2400 on the same board. I'm accepting the risk and would just buy a new board if mine fail.

I just ordered a "cooler master" series cooler.Yeah there is a risk when unlocking those cores but if I just boost like CPU to 3500 and NB to 2400 - is there still a big risk?
I think ill be cool with 2 cores because i am not doing any serious networking or servers etc

And I bought a 120 mm enermax fan to cool those* mosfets , its big enough i think its gonna cool whole board..I will install the fan on the side of the MidTower case.

But how's your pc, working properly with your unlock?

Thanks in advance
