It's working again.

What are the main differences between i5 and i7?

Yeah, it seems that it does though from the 'Tech Spec' page. Only time will tell, but yes, I'm highly disappointed with the downgrade in the GPU for the 13 inch model. I guess I'll wait and buy a refurb 2010 model when it comes time.

EDIT: Yep, TOTALLY disappointed in what they did to the 13 inch model. I'm not a fan of Intel IGP's mainly for the lack of support. Regardless if they play the indie games I want it to play, or movies in HD, it's still an Intel IGP. Also, battery life decreased, didn't it? From 10 to 7 hours?

EDIT2: Refurb MBP's from 2010 are $929, now.

Battery life did go down across the board.

Heck I just found a refurbed 15" MBP from April of last year for about $1200.

The introduction of light peak is truly a new generation of protocols. Remember it was also developed keeping in mind that it could eliminate the PCI express lanes. This will mean in the near future external graphics cards are a very viable option. Mobile gaming is about to take a turn.

So things to gather...

$2500 for the Quadcore 17 inch, which is a 2720qm and in a Sager Np8170 with same goes for ~$1600 and that includes a 460m.

The 15 inch is 1440x900 and $2200, but wait you can upgrade to 1680x1050 for $100 pushing the price up to $2300! What a steal!!!

Here are my pet peeves about the redesign:

They need higher resolution displays. The 13inch has a TN panel, not an IPS. Which is strange considering that it's the laptop's objective to reduce power consumption.

Higher resolution camera? Almost every time I video chat, the video is automatically reduced in quality to better suit bandwidth.

The case should really be redesigned. I like how it is. But I want a new laptop to look different. Make it flush like the Iphone4. Heck I'd buy it just for that.
How about different materials? Liquid metal maybe?

Intel Graphics, dunno about this yet.

A 5400 RPM HDD...... wth.

Finally, lightpath. Cool sauce. But its a case of the mind is willing but the body can't do anything. What drives are out there today that can transfer at that speed? Its like Oo what do we have here but whats the practical use of it?

Don't forget LightPath eventual goal is to replace all external connections.... PCIe, HDMI, SATA, USB, 10GbE, ect.

It has to start somewhere and it needs the bandwidth to do so.

Has anyone seen the power rating on the Thunderbolt connections? Voltage and Amperes?
Once again...

You mean Light Peak?

Also, I'm very excited that they finally gave the 13" MBP the processor it deserved...I would have liked USB 3.0 as well but I'll take an i5.

Anyone know how well the Intel HD 3000 performs?

I'm pretty sure it is 13v.
