According to the information i found it seems to be that Apple uses a re-branded Samsung SSD. According to some MBP users when you remove the battery/case the SSD says Samsung.

I wonder if Apple having lightpeak is just going to make it so lightpeak products are gonna be mac only

Are any other companies on board for putting lightpeak in their laptops/motherboards anytime soon?

The Intel conference held later that day confirmed that LightPeak is going to be an open standard for all manufacturers, competing with USB 3.0 (for some reason Intel is choosing to compete with itself?) for differing usage scenarios.

I'm not a big fan of Apple gear but if you think about what their doing makes sense. A 13" MB is, I'm guessing, built for utilitarian purposes and battery life would suffer when using descrete graphics. The new interface is still usefull even if it fails to run full speed because of a slow HD (for now). They still have USB anyway.

Edit: I'm kinda pumped about throwing out 15 different USB cables too!

With the 10 Gbps performance of Thunderbolt products you can

Transfer a full-length HD movie in less than 30 seconds‡
Backup 1 year of continuous MP3 playback in just over 10 minutes‡
But it's useless without mainstream devices that are actually capable of supporting those speeds. Sure, the interface might be fast, but when your read and write speeds of the media are no faster than current HDD's, anything faster than SATA is overkill. Hell, even SATA is overkill.

The highly portable 13-inch MacBook Pro features Intel Core i5 and Core i7 dual-core processors up to 2.7 GHz and Intel HD Graphics 3000.
Is that a fkin joke? No standard Nvidia graphic cards?

The 13 inchers in the past, and currently have never been the heavy weights in terms of performance.

Get the 15 or 17 for discrete graphics (as it has always been in the past).
