No, it's still inflated by the Apple premium you pay if you're stupid enough to buy one of their computers.

Don't hate because you can't afford it.

Not being practical is why I see this as a win for both MS and Apple. MS gets the Thunderbolt exposure and Apple can sell many peripheral devices as if it were their own proprietary device (for a while anyway) due to there being little to no Thunderbolt devices yet on the market.

I have a 2009 17" Mac Book pro anti glare screen with a OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 400gb SSD. And while I love the hardware and form factor, I just can't stand MacOSX. The cooling also sucks in Windows 7 and the fan controllers such as MacFan.exe aren't that good.

Just doing a little java debugging sends the processor to 100c in no time. I lose a lot of performance because my processor is literally throttled my whole day at work. In fact I posted some screenshots before of my temps. I've seen my processor at 105c in core temp before.

In a year when I can upgrade again I will definitely be looking into other laptops such as Lenovo or HP Envy series. I will definitely be holding on to my ssd though.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for clear type or the superior mouse movement and window management. IDK but I just can't get into MacOSX. Every time I want to like it I can't. I install it on my Mac Book pro and on my computer at home to have a 24/7 MacOSX experience and I'm back to Windows within a week every time. It's quite sad because I really love mac mail, the bash shell, and the BSD under pinnings.

This is what worries me about possibly purchasing a MBP. I have an iPad and love that but i just dont know about OSX, its going to be a hard choice dedciding between an Envy and MBP.

You should not buy Mac hardware if you plan to run windows on it.

That is just plain wasteful. Mac OS X is the best Unix ever made from an end user perspective, there is nothing even close. And Mac hardware is well supported by Mac software.

I have Windows, Linux, and Mac's at home and they all serve there purpose.

A Macintosh is like a BMW, it's more expensive but also more refined and comes with a nicer end user experience. But most people want a Chevy. ( Windows )

I am excited for Thunderbolt if you can add discrete graphics to say a Mac mini.....

Also, even though the standard 10Gps x2 is way faster than any single device you are likely to use, it's meant as a sort of highway for multiple devices to be daisy chained on which then makes for more throughput.

Just got my 13" with the 2620M and it is definitely WIN! Honestly though Macs are not made for games and unless you are using Aperture or Logic or other productivity software there is no reason to get the 15"(the 17" is total fail).

Gaming on Macs has always been pretty fail, but the high end 15" does look pretty nice.
