It is better to have the cooler fan aiming toward the exhaust fan in the back of your case (provided it has one) to get rid of the hot air completely. Hot air blowing on your GPU won't help, and can certainly make temps worse.

Guess that answers it! I'll pickup a 212 and point it towards the back of the PC?

That's if your PSU will allow it, since you said it's top mounted.

How will the PSU being mounted up top prevent me from pointing it to the exhaust fan?

I picked a 212+ up last week, and for the performance to cost ratio its great.

For my q9550 OC'd @ 3.7 with an artic freezer pro 7 my load temps were 80+

with the 212 and OC'd @ 3.84 load temps are 60-64.

If you have a side fan chances are you'll have to remove it, and yes the best way to aim it is out the back of the exhaust.

THe blademaster fan that comes with it is very good.. and if you need more insight, check the club in my sig for more info. wave2.gif

Not preventing you from shooting it out the BACK.. but from positioning it to blow UP or DOWN.. the last thing you want to do is blast hot air from your cpu at ANY of your componants.. you want that hot air out of your case.

And Brien, for us to better assist you, fill out your system info. CLick on user CP at the top of the page, then click on edit system.. fill everything out.

Depending on your case or components, you may not be able to fit certain coolers.

True, if the PSU overlaps the motherboard the 212+ won't fit facing backward. Also another consideration for these large coolers is that you need a case wide enough to fit them, usually about 8 inches. What case do you have?

That NCIX deal on the H50 is pretty fantastic, you should get that depending on where you are and if shipping isn't too rough on you.

Grab a second fan for a push pull setup. If you have a microcenter nearby its $24.00 for the Cooler and $12 for the extra fan right now.

Yes I picked mine up at microcenter for 24...

But from I've read, a 2nd fan may only yield a few degrees difference.. plus depending on the case he may not be able to fit a 2nd fan in there..

That's my case, only has room for 2 fans, one in the front, and one in the back.
