Help with choosing LEDs Coolers (Modding) - Page 2

post #11 of 22
Ram fans are almost purely aesthetic.

I've always wanted one, but people who have them (usually watercooling people too) usually say they don't cool the RAM much at all. A bigger fan (80mm-120mm) over the RAM would have a much bigger impact, though still not that useful.

At this point you have me completely confused so I am going to bow out and let the other professionals handle this.

Yeah, I was looking for 80mm ones. But how do you put them onto the top of the ram sticks? what's it called?

It's absolutely no offense to you, I am just trying to visualize the inside of this chassis and how it looks and I just can't "see" it to offer advice.

You don't have a pic or anything do you so I know what you have going on right now? It's a gorgeous chassis to be sure.

Hmm I'm not sure what they are called, though I'd call them brackets.

You're referring to the side "brackets" of a RAM fan like this right?

I don't think there are brackets for 80mm fans though. Only ones I've ever seen are the ones that already come with the RAM fans. Those fans are usually smaller with 1x or 2x 40mm fans.

As for 80mm or 120mm fans, it would have to be tied down using your own creativeness. I'd suggest zip-ties or something of similar fashion.

Oh there are the Antec SpotCools, though it's not pretty and the blue color will probably clash with your warm-colored theme. They would probably be more useful for cooling the Northbridge than the RAM as well.

Specs are:

* Quiet and Flexible 3-speed blue LED fan.
* Mounts on your motherboard or elsewhere to cool your RAM, expansion cards, etc.
* High, Medium, Low fan settings
o 22.2CFM/18.2CFM/15.3CFM
o 32.7dBA/26.6dBA/23.2dBA
o 3000RPM/2500RPM/2000RPM
* 212x89x30mm
* 94.5grams

It's attached through your motherboard screws (the ones that go into the case standoffs).

I did not know anything like this existed, but even though it's primarly aesthetic, kinda want them... despite the fact that my PC has no viewing panel...

If only that was yellow, not blue.
Possible to disassemble that and replace the blue led with yellow led?
hmmm. Brackets...
