Computer Will not sleep or hibernate.

Thread Starter
Ok got a GTX 580 like a month ago and since then I have not been able to sleep my computer.
I have reinstalled the drivers 580
I have changed the sleep mode to s3
I just did a fresh re-install of everything like 2 weeks ago and the same issue.
I have done everything I know and nothing works...even put my computer back to stock and nothing.
What could be the problem? I am blank right now and do you think the new service pack will fix this issue or will old 580 drivers fix the issue?
I like to sleep my computer when I go to class and stuff like that so please some one help me I am at a blank right now.

Hello, GeneralCuster44,

I recommend waiting for a new driver release/update. In the meantime, switch back to your older GPU.

Please post your results for future reference.

Thanks for using OCN tech support!

Sincerely,
Michael

So it still doesn't sleep even after a full reinstall?

If you put the old gpu in does it still persist? If it doesnt then the gpu and/or drivers are the issue. Possible call nvidia an see what they say. Your card could possibly be defective.

What do you mean cant sleep or hibernate? Normally when these thing happen it is the bios try a CMOS reset and see if it works

Sleep / Hibernate failures are almost always driver related, check to see if your drivers are windows certified, also check to see if there is a newer, or an older alternate driver that will work, sometimes the issues are with a specific version of the driver for a device. Look in Device manager for equipment hardware changes and if all else fails, switch to the default VGA drivers to verify that the GPU is actually the device causing the problem....
