From what I heard, SLI scales better.

Pretty much if you have issues with crossfire now... you might bump into them again on the 5970.

In all honesty, if you can stomach the 5870's you have now until the newer 6990 is released... that would be your best bet imo..

There's always the option of the 580 for a single card solution so there is no risk of crossfire issues.. just throwing it out there :\\ [***this would be a downgrade in raw performance though***]
Honestly I felt the 5000 series had some really horrible scaling. I used to run crossfire 5850s & it was a mess. I will never do it again

The 6900 series has really good scaling but i feel SLI has the best scaling period
