My new 990X Temps

Thread Starter
Ok so I just decided to TOTALLY impulse buy...(Thanks OCN you did it again).

I just received my 990x from the egg today...And right off the bat I am just amazed at the temps. Now I know the 950 I had was 45nm and the 990 is 32nm, however I didnt think my temps would drop this much.

My 950 I had running steady at 4.0 ghz and 78C during a full folding load.

My 990x is running at 4.2 ghz and all 6 cores with HT on is getting me around 50C. wheee.gif

Worth the $999 meh....maybe not...but I don't think I am going to have to worry about a cpu upgrade for a day or 2..cool.gif

at stock mine hits 55c at load so i guess you are very lucky, but i am looking for a high leakage chip which runs hot so i can pop it under LN2/DICE. The 990x that run cooler under air/water don't OC well under Ln2/DICE the ones that run hot OC well.

I love mine too!

It runs even cooler than my 980x!!

I was able to snag 5ghz validation(check sig) which I couldnt do(not even close) on my 980x. I have a feeling that I can get 5ghz at least bench stable.

All in all I am glad I did the change.

Great OC! Obviously, you're on water... for air-cooling, what is a safe v-core for the 990X?
