Is the GTX 570 as good as GT 430 for HTPC.

Thread Starter
I know GT 430 is really a good and recommended cards for HTPC, but i was planning to build a HTPC Gaming rig. And was planning to add GTX 570 to it.
Was wondering are the audio and video specs on GTX 570 as good as GT 430 or shud i stick to ATI HD 6970, for both HTPC and gaming.. as i know HD 6970 is very good for HTPC, but i am not sure if GTX 570 is as equivalent to 6970 for audio and video.

So the question is.. ATI 6970 or GTX 570 for HTPC... or GT 430 is raising the bar for htpc against both mentioned earlier!!

errr well the GTX 570 is WAYY better than the low profile Gt430

the gtx570 would require a 600w PSU

while the GT 430 would require a 300w one

but serously is this a troll or sumthin tongue.gif

No troll, this is a serious question. Lot of guys on various forums prefer GT 430 for HTPC.
I already know GTX 570 is a monster card, but not sure if it is as good for htpc. Ppl still prefer ATI 6xxx for HTPC.. cos of its audio video features.

grab a gtx560 ti man, suits all of them, gaming, htpc, even **** watching or hd6850.

using pass gtx560ti or hd 6850 for an htpc isnt such a good idea, two reasons would be you`re wasting muscle on a movie rig and you're gonna blow your electric bill. a good person would get two rigs, one for the gaming and one for htpc, while the htpc could game a little as a backup incase the main rig falls.

why the heck do you need a mammoth to carry a child? its just plain overkill.

audio component of the video cards will be fine to output over HDMI. the video component in terms of graphical performance will greatly surpass the GT430.

this question comes down to how much you really want to spend on your HTPC. if you want to play high end video games off the HTPC getting a gtx 570 will be your best bet. Also, space issue will be a factor the GT430 is a low profile card which is WHY people go for it as a videocard in htpcs. you will need to find a suitable case for the GTX570 if you want to fit it in to your HTPC.

I use the NZXT Vulcan for my media PC.

Portable and it can fit literally any video card.

The carrying handle is nice. I move it to whichever TV in the house we happen to be using.

my htpc has a gtx 560 Ti and it's pretty much overkill already although I like the temp and the power consumption of the gtx 560 so I think they make a great high-end htpc card. they are really small as well.unlike the gtx 570 which will consume more power and will be big. dunno if it will fit in the case that most of us use in htpc's

that was my point, and its already good enough and on top of that, nvidia 500series outputs 7.1audio over hdmi without extra connectors and a whooping 3D output to boot.
