Need some advice for my first OC (C2D E8500+RAM)

Hello experts!

I'm thinking about getting a new CPU soon (from C2D E8500 to Q9505) but for now I want to use what I got as a testbed before I upgrade. So far I have been reading guides, trying different tools and also done a bit of overclocking. I've got a few questions though and was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction.

I have my CPU at 3,8ghz (1,23v) now and that seems to be maximum with the stock Intel cooler without getting too hot. Now I wanted to squeeze something extra out of my RAM but I cannot get anything out of them and I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong or the RAM just cannot go any higher. If I raise them from 1066 to just 1075 I get errors when testing. Is that normal? Should I add more voltage to something else or to the RAM? RAM is at 2,14v as Corsair recommends.

Also how much heat it too much for a C2D? I have read that 100 c is the shutdown point, but is 80 then ok?

80 is to high
