isnt that the board with horrible vrm's?
No. It's a new and decent 8+2 phase. MSI has been working on AMD boards & VRM systems with their 2011 AMD boards, much better now.

I picked up the ram in my original post from a local shop for $40
Ah I see you already bought the ram , Hyper x´s are solid either way, god choice all round. I love that board , and yes the Samsung F3 is fast and quiet, it will compliment that rig.

With $7.56 shipping back on Hyper 212... Hyper 212 price has returned to a ripoff. price on Newegg. Don't buy it. Zalman CNPS10X $40, $30 AR would be better, cost nearly same with free shipping, and cost lower after rebate.
or i could save $40 off of the price of a 1055 and get a 955 and boost it.

that zalman looks to be a pretty good deal.

edit:
i just checked out the RASA 360, ....holy @#$%. i think thats a little much, don't you?

Most of their 2010 and before AMD boards were doing it wrong, yes indeed.

I have the origional mobo you posted, one of the best/most reliable boards I've owned, and great for overclocking.

Still for gaming, I'd get something with SATA3, and SSD's + raid setup.
Future proof the board.

you still can get a 8+1 with sata3, so i don't see the point in getting a cheap oc'ing board when this is supposed to be a gaming rig.

i need to educate myself on SSD's and RAID. my knowledge in that category is quite limited.

mine too TBH, I've only ever had 1 raid setup and that was years ago. I don't own any solid state drives. But you asked for advice, and there it is.. My advice is to future proof the board and allow yourself some room to grow for the next 2-3 years. Not that I'm anyone, low post count + no rep = nub. If no1 else agrees then you should probably ignore my advice.
