Help with my 965BE OC please :'(

Thread Starter
Hi all,

New to the forum, had browsed through similar posts but nothing really helped me.

CPU:AMD 965BE
Mobo:MSI 890FXA-GD70
Ram: 8GB (4x 2GB) crucial ballistix tracer ram

I had problems installing all 4 sticks, i could install up to 3 sticks but when i put in the 4th, no post or anything.

I ended up reducing the ram frequency down to 1066 and that solved it. But now, I have to run my cpu at stock (originally OC to 4Ghz @ 1.3v, 223x18, and ram at 1500).

My question is, what settings would I have to tinker with? NB, SB, HT and their voltages?

Any help is appreciated biggrin.gif

thanks in advance!smile.gif

Well us having a BE we have the leisure to just use the multiplier. I originally tried with the fsb but it was much more tedious as you can see with all of the other settings that the fsb affects. I just settled on keeping hte fsb at default 200, multiplier 20.0, 1.45v. Perfectly stable. Also, i set the multiplier to 13 so i got a NB of 2600mhz and is perfectly stably with a CPU NB voltage of 1.25v. I also read that having a higher HT doesn't benefit you at all for some reason i don't know and it's best kept at stock 2000mhz. I then also up'd my ram multiplier up to 8x, so both sticks run at the max 800mhz while keeping stock timings(didn't want to mess with the timings, had a whoops)

Whats your maximum multiplier for your NB?

venomblade stated he could do x13, but the maximum on my board is x10 =(

C2 revision 965 = expect issues with 4 DIMMs; C3 is fine. You may want to raise CPU-NB voltage.

Increase your CPU-NB voltage more, IMC may need a bit of a kick to run 4 DIMMs, but it should work.
