If you want a real performance cooler so you won't have to worry about temps look at a Notua ($80-$90) or better yet a Rasa XSPC RS360 Kit for $150. You won't regret either one and finally be able to stop worrying about temps and OC like crazy. The Arctic Cooling line and Hyper 212 are all budget coolers not really enough for a well OC'd Hexacore. Been there and done that. Any thing less and you'll end up spending about the same on better fans for the budget coolers rather than just buying a performance cooler in the first place and putting it all behind you. That's what I went through and happy as heck with my current setup and wished I'd gotten this advice before I went with even medium grade coolers which may also make you want you want better fans and there not cheap either. Also been there and done that one too lol. Cheaper to just buy the "GOODS" right up front, and be done with it, trust me. That's my

Some 4+1 VRMs are fine (with cooling) actually including the majority of Gigabyte's, but that is an exception... it uses a cheaped out traditional 3 transistor design and smaller chokes that I don't really think would be as safe for pushing your 125W processor past the limit.

What about a mild overclock? like a 100 or even 300MHz?

I really wouldn't recommend it without some form of MOFSET cooling. There's a reason GIGABYTE rates that board 125W only, while other boards with also 4+1 phase (but better quality) from GIGABYTE are rated 140W.

mmmm i see, so mis sold a board from the retailer, saying that it was meant to be for a x4 AMD so more my fault than any thing as was never meant to get this combination and try and OC temptation got the better of me one night on ebay when i seen a x 6.....So i have a choice? maybe cool the mosfets or change the board.? is the 125 W the max power that you can run to the CPU? and when you OC then this will increase?

Actually xd i can see that you've been frustrated in the past with probably a lot of "noobs" thinking that you can OC on any board is possible.[including me now!]..so i'm going off now to read all that stuff in your thread/siggy!

thanks for all the input and help guys, learned a great deal in a matter of days so thanks for that, was just wondering one last question?...

I've purchased a mosfet cooler and a north bridge cooler for her, I'm not maybe expecting a massive overclock if the board won't take it......i know i have a poor MB if it's 4+1 and i should have went for some thing with more power but noticed on the MB CPU support list that it would take a x4 140w?

So after heat sinks for mosfets and n/bridge are purchased will i still be able to tweak it a little?

Thanks

this is what i ordered...
