[Planet Battlefield] Battlefield 3 'Back to Karkand' DLC Maps Confirmed - Page 7

One BF3 lighting probe has more information than an entire BC2 level which has 50x the information of a CoD map. I would love for them release mod tools, but after reading the explanation for the ballooning size of BC2 patches i feel like frostbite isn't the type of engine that would be mod friendly at all.

Is this like BFBC2 when all they released was the Limited Edition which had all the 'DLC' free?

Anyway, can't wait for Karkand and Sharqi. If only they release Mashtuur too! I really need to reinstall BF2.

But honestly, DLC itself is a joke. But a prelease DLC is an even bigger joke. The content is finished. Put it in the release. Same thing with Dragon Age when it was released. Atleast this will be free for PC though.

No, BC2 limited edition had no DLC. It only had some weapons already unlocked.

EA has been doing this for a while now. Dragon age, mass effect. They will extend it to every series they can.

I think I've accepted that mod tools aren't going to be released. All I was really asking for was 6 man squads, 64 players and jets. Let's hope they deliver =]

Gulf of Oman was an awesome map very keen to play there.

I meant LE edition on PC gave you VIP(?) status. Which really was pointless since all PC versions had the free map packs.

But consoles weren't as lucky.

No. LE and VIP were different things. LE was a version of the game that unlocked weapons early for you.
VIP status gave you access to map packs and all future map packs. On PC, VIP status is tied to your account/CDkey, so it was a non issue. On consoles, first time buyers had the code, but second hand buyers of the game had to buy it (once) separately on the Xbox store if they wanted the map packs.

So the only players affected were people who bought it second hand on consoles.

all those maps are good but im most excited for sharqi peninsula. my friend and i would pwn it up so much in the roflcopter on that map. whoever was gunning got 100+ kills every match. i was so good at piloting the roflcopter. it sucks how crappy the bc2 roflcopter controls are. i really hope bf3 is simply bf2 + frostbite 2.
