VIP status gave you access to map packs and all future map packs. On PC, VIP status is tied to your account/CDkey, so it was a non issue. On consoles, first time buyers had the code, but second hand buyers of the game had to buy it (once) separately on the Xbox store if they wanted the map packs.

So the only players affected were people who bought it second hand on consoles.
Oh I see. I thought it was the LE that gave the VIP status and Veteran status that gave the weapons.

Veteran status simply unlocks the M1 Garand.

Was the video a cut-scene, or was it really gameplay? If it was actual gameplay, I'm blown away.

I will probably pre-order either way.

Now you see, this is the problem with gaming in general being mainstream. Back in the day, when gaming (especially PC gaming) was still regarded as a nerdy, niche, small circle scene. Before the mass marketing campaigns, lavish gala events to promote your products. Before the internet was the go to place to get every piece of information you wanted about a game. Developers needed to work damn hard to make a product worth giving a damn about, and they constantly added moar and moar to sustain and grow their fanbase...

Nowadays, you just need some generic uber-soldier with some modern gear, and a good few millions to market said product... Gamers don't buy games anymore, they buy names...

Slap Call of Duty on a bag of sand, and it will sell...

/nostalgiac rant

Sure, we will just let the developers take some good will to the bank and pay their mortgages with it, and for that matter, everyone who benefits financially from their hard work on this game. I could see if they thought that creating modding tools for the game would at least sell them more copies, but you are complaining about them not going above and beyond their obligations while making this game.

Let me ask you, if they sold a mod tool for the game like they do expansions, would you pay money for it? You said your self that you are not into modding. I'll bet even if they did sell a modding tool for even a couple of bucks, you would still complain because it was not free..

BF2 & 2142 had at least 5 free maps each. Although they took some time to release, usually one map ever other patch. They were new and they were free.

We also had mod tools so we could play amazing mods like PR which feel like a different game.

Day one DLC is lame, why not just include it in the launch? That's milking. I see that they are starting to copy the COD franchise a bit.
