Just bought Dell U2410 ... for a month could not decide between U2711 and U2410 ,and was the right decision.

What made go for the U2410 instead of the U2711? I'm in the same predicament.

Basically it comes on for 2 seconds then the screen goes black. LED stays the same colour.

It's a capacitor problem with a lot of the earlier Dell E1x3FP monitors.

The UltraSharp U2410 isn't as sharp, but stuff isn't as small. I think it has less input delay and/or better response (?), and it's cheaper. Because of it's 16:10 ratio (while a con in some ways), it's not really "smaller", just "not as wide". Look up pictures of the two side by side, the UltraSharp U2711 is just slightly taller, but essentially it's just wider with a higher resolution. This makes everything smaller though since the higher resolution is crammed into the same amount of space. If you're not after the higher resolution and can live with the added cost and smaller size, the UltraSharp U2410 can be a better way to go (and requires less GPU to push for gaming), but it's not as sharp and has a lower resolution than the UltraSharp U2711. I'd say the latter is obviously "better", but I wouldn't recommend it for someone who doesn't need the things it offers (like me) as they come at a price.

Identical thinking,i need more high then wide monitor. The only drawback for me is for movies (16:9 better for movies than 16:10,3 less inches),it has some more drawback like 0.27mm vs 0.233,8 bit vs 8bit +afrc, resolution. In my country is 2/5 of the price less expensive than U2711,for that difference I can buy some good ssd with 120gb and sandforce controller.
