Just managed to get my hands on a Xeon 3350 for $140.

After a bit of haggling with someone on eBay, I managed to snag an Intel Xeon X3350 for $140.

The X3350 is similar to the Q9450, with the exception that it runs on a slightly lower voltage.

So, for anyone seeking a cheap LGA775 quad-core upgrade, look at the Xeons. No one ever bids for them and they are comparable to the Core 2 Quads that everyone clamors for.

I don't plan to overclock my Xeon when it get and install it, but with this upgrade concluded, I don't plan to upgrade my CPU platform until Rockwell comes out.

Nice find. Congrats. Reminded me of how I got my Xeon X3460 for $200 off of eBay.

Most people don't use server CPUs on a desktop, but most motherboards will take them. They are also more expensive at retail than the desktop variants.
