AMD X4 965BE Redeployment Build :) - Page 2

Very similar to some of the builds I've been speccing out. I know you want to return home (thanks for your service btw) to your new toys, but did Bulldozer coming in a few months enter into your decision process at any point? It's got me a bit hung up at the moment.

Well I'll be upgrading throughout the next year, so I'm trying not to sweat all the new stuff that will be coming out...eventually. If I did that I'd never get this build done, but I do see where your coming from on the Bulldozer.

@Ninja - Got me...I went ahead and got the six-core ordered Thanks.

Exactly. I'm ready now, but here I am waiting for BD or SB. It's neverending! Hard to pull the trigger when the next thing is always "in a few weeks."

Ugg. What to do what to do...

Rofl.. I'm still running dual core and it does fine. Please tell me about these games that are being made for 6 core, I've not heard of any.

The Phenom x4 is plenty for gaming, it's more important that you put the money into a good video card, which is what I would have thought more people would be talking about. Your not going to be able to play games maxed out with a single 6870. You should be looking at getting either a 6950/6970 or a 560/570.

HX750 is a great power supply, but is overkill on that system. You wouldn't be pulling more than 350w at the wall during regular gaming (benchmarks/stresstests use much more obviously). Even if you go SLI/CF you wouldn't be using more than 400-450w during gaming.

yea i know the 6870 isnt enough on it's own hence the HX750 so that when I get the other card to crossfire I should be good, but thanks for all the input there scooter. This build is going to be constantly upgraded and it never hurts to have it and not need it than need it and not have it
